In Malvada, the romantic comedy transforms, by passing through the genre of fantasy and horror, to renew itself, to become fresh in the eyes of the viewer. While the film will wear the disguise of horror for a few moments here and there, it never forgets its comedic impulse. José Manuel Cravioto’s film strikes its own path, committed to its somewhat quixotic blend of tones and shadows, its peculiar mixture – a high-concept made human by the frailty and tenderness of its performers. Malvada is an opportunity to film a comedy in with darker colors, at night, while still retaining a certain lightness.
